Subsurface GPR Scanning GPRS California

Ground Penetrating Radar Scan Performed to Locate Rebar and Conduits - Santa Monica, California.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of Southern California was contacted by a general contractor to locate rebar and conduits near their core drilling locations for plumbing at a building in Santa Monica. It was known that there were conduits embedded in the slab and the engineers required that no rebar could be damaged during core drilling. GPRS was asked to mark out all rebar in the entire bathroom areas so that the plumbing could be designed to fit within the layout of the rebar and conduits. Ground penetrating radar was able to scan this large area within about one hour and provide many options for the plumbing locations. Even the PVC conduits in the slab were found with GPR. The rebar and conduits were spray painted on the surface with red for rebar and pink for conduits so that the markings would be easily visible. The work was able to be performed during the day with other people in the area because GPR does not emit harmful radiation like X-Ray would have.
