Private Utility Locating Prior to Trenching - Bakersfield, CA
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of Southern California was contacted by a survey company to scan twelve 100’x100’ sites. The contractor was planning to install a new communication lines into a trench, and prior to getting started with their proejct, they called GPRS to conduct a utility scan. During the scan, we were able to locate the following types of utilities: electrical, sewer, gas, water, and communication lines. During the scan, (as you can see in the picture to the right) all of our findings were marked on the surface with spray paint.
GPR scanning is a great tool to use for locating post tension cables, rebar, and conduits; it can also be used to scan for underground utilities prior to digging or excavating.
