Ground Penetrating Radar Used To Locate Utilities Prior To Installation of UST - Southern California

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of California was contacted to locate underground utilities prior to excavation in one area for the installation of an above ground tank. Ground penetrating was able to be used to scan over the surface. GPR was able to detect a drain line and two electrical conduits running directly through the excavation area. GPRS also uses Radio Detection to sweep digging locations for live power and communications signals and to connect to and tone out metal pipes and tracer wires. The piping locations were painted on the ground so that the project could be planned accordingly without damaging any existing utilities.

Ground penetrating radar is a great tool for scanning prior to digging, trenching, or excavating. GPR can detect any type of utility including PVC pipes, electrical, fiber optic, gas, water, and sewer.
