Ground Penetrating Radar Scan Performed At A Parking Garage - San Diego, California
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of California was contacted by a GKS Engineering to perform a concrete scanning (“x-ray”) near San Diego State University in San Diego, CA. Concrete scanning (GPR) was used to check the concrete slab for all post tension cables and electrical conduits prior to core drilling, as well as installing anchor bolts. GPRS utilized GSSI state of the art GPR equipment to locate the post tension cables as well as rebar in every location that was scanned. The data is able to be marked directly on the surface with no wait time for processing or developing. Additionally, with GPR (Concrete Scanning) there is no radiation and therefore no need to stop work on the jobsite due to radiation exposure. This allowed the customer to core drill right after the scanning process, and complete the entire project within a single day.
Ground Penetrating Radar is a great tool to scan areas for post tension cables (PT cables), rebar, and conduits prior to core drilling, drilling for anchor bolts, or saw cutting. The concrete imaging process is entirely non destructive and free of radiation or health hazards.
