Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. of Southern California was contacted by a construction company in order to scan for utilities. We were asked to scan an existing 8 acre empty lot to find any signs of water, gas, electrical, communications or sewer/storm. The lot use to be a grocery store that over time the building was demolished, but the utility lines were still running through the property. While onsite, we found most findings at 3’-4’ deep with the exception of the sewer being up to 6’ deep in most areas. We used our Duct Hunter to find most sewer/storm or abandoned conduits; GPR and Radio Detection were able to provide approximate depths for all of our findings. All findings were marked onsite with paint and flags to provide better visibility and at the completion of the job, we provided the client with a CAD overview of our findings.
GPR scanning is a great tool to use for post tension cables, rebar, and conduits; it can also be used to scan for underground utilities prior to digging or excavating. GPRS has offices throughout the entire state of California and performs projects in cities like; Ventura, Santa Barbara, Thousand Oaks, San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, Lancaster and the greater Los Angeles area. Please contact Alfredo Espinal at 805-729-5877 or firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about ground penetrating radar and how GPRS can assist in your projects.
