GPRS Scans Concrete Slab For Plumbing Contractor
- Oceanside, Southern California

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of California was contacted by a plumbing contractor to locate rebar, post tensioned (PT) cables, and conduit prior to drilling for various types of pipes and conduits. The slab was post tensioned and also contained PVC conduits inside of the slab. The plumbing contractor could not risk drilling through the slab and severing PT cables or conduit. GPRS used ground penetrating radar to scan 20 locations where core drilling was going to take place. The rebar, PT cables, and conduits were marked on the concrete so the cores could easily be positioned in open areas.

GPR is a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes and can also be used to locate underground utilities prior to digging or excavating.
