Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of California was contacted by a construction company to locate rebar and conduit in a slab prior to anchoring equipment in a hospital in Lancaster, CA. We scanned 4 different rooms in which medical refrigerators and treadmill walkers were going to be installed. We used tape to mark out the rebar and conduits; we wrote “possible conduit” on the tape using a red crayon to distinguish between the rebar and conduit. Using our 1600 MHz antenna, we were able to see well into the slab and found several conduits running at angles underneath the rebar.

Ground penetrating radar is a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes and can also be used to locate underground utilities prior to digging or excavating.
