Concrete Analysis & Locate - San Diego, California
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. was contacted by a large contractor in San Diego to locate rebar, post-tensioned cables, and conduits prior the core drilling. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. used a 1600 MHz GPR antenna to perform the scan. The findings were marked directly on the surface with spray paint as seen in the picture above. This enabled the contractor the confidence and knowledge to continue with their core drilling.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of Southern California was contacted by a plumbing company in order to scan for rebar, post tension cables, or conduits in a concrete deck prior to coring (1) 3” hole for a new drain location. We scanned 2’x2’ areas for the location and we marked all findings on the surface with spray paint. In the areas scanned, we found that the slab was roughly 6” thick and consisted of one layer rebar at 12” on center.
GPR scanning is a great tool to use to locate post tension cables, rebar, and conduits. It can also be used to scan for underground utilities prior to excavating or directional boring.
